Here's a simple and classic recipe for chicken salad:



Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of cooked chicken breast, diced or shredded

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard

  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice

  • 1/2 cup of celery, diced

  • Red onion chopped into small, uniform pieces, yields 1/4 cup

  • 1/4 cup sweet pickle relish (optional)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Fresh parsley or dill, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the chicken.

    • Cook and dice or shred the chicken breast. You can use leftover chicken or cook fresh chicken by boiling, baking, or grilling.

  2. Mix the dressing.

    • In a large bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice. Mix until smooth.

  3. Add the vegetables.

    • Add the diced celery, red onion, and sweet pickle relish (if using) to the dressing. Mix well.

  4. Combine with it's.

    • Add the diced or shredded chicken to the bowl. Combine dressing, vegetables, and chicken until each piece is covered.

  5. Season:

Variations:

  • You can add grapes, apple slices, and nuts. Use walnuts or almonds. You can also add dried cranberries for its flavor and texture.

  • Use Greek yogurt to replace some or all the mayonnaise. This makes a lighter version.

  • Try different herbs, like tarragon, basil, or chives. They add flavor.
