Here's a simple recipe for making classic chocolate chip cookies:

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

  • 1 cup of unsalted butter, at room temperature.

  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar

  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon of salt

  • 2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 cups of semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.

  3. In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream the butter with both sugars. Beat on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Use the paddle attachment. Reduce speed to low; add the salt, vanilla, and eggs. Beat until well mixed, about 1 minute.

  4. Combine Ingredients: Add flour mixture; mix until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.

  5. Form Cookies: On the sheets, drop heaping tablespoon-sized dough balls 2 inches apart.

  6. Bake until the cookies are golden around the edges but still soft in the center, 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from the and let cool on the baking sheet 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool completely.

  7. Serve: Enjoy your classic chocolate chip cookies with a glass of milk or as is!

Tips

  • Chilling the Dough: For thicker cookies, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.

  • Extra Flavor: For a deeper flavor, use browned butter.

  • Mix-ins: You can add nuts, chocolate, or other mix-ins to customize your cookies.

Enjoy your baking!
