  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 large egg

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Sour cream for serving

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Mixing bowl

  • Rolling pin

  • Skillet

  • Pot

  • Slotted spoon

Instructions:

  • In a bowl, mix the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the egg and water. Knead until smooth and elastic. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  • Boil the diced potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and mash them.

  • In a skillet, melt the butter and sauté the chopped onion until golden. Mix the sautéed onion with the mashed potatoes. Season with salt and pepper.

  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into circles using a glass or cookie cutter.

  • Place a small spoonful of the potato filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over and pinch the edges to seal.

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Drop the pelmeni into the boiling water and cook until they float to the surface, about 5-7 minutes.

  • Remove the pelmeni with a slotted spoon and serve hot with sour cream.
