Ingredients

  • 1 cup of long-grain white rice, such as jasmine or basmati.

  • 2 cups of chicken or vegetable broth.

  • Three tablespoons of unsalted butter.

  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced.

  • One small onion, chop it into tiny pieces if desired.

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice:

    • Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming sticky.

  2. Prepare the Garlic Butter:

    • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

    • Add the minced garlic (and onion, if using). Cook until the aroma emerges and the garlic turns pale yellow. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

  3. Cook the rice:

    • Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan and stir to coat the rice with the garlic butter.

    • Rice cooks in 2-3 minutes with constant stirring to a light toast.

  4. Add broth and seasoning.
