Garlic Butter Rice
Garlic Butter Rice is a simple and flavorful side dish that pairs well with a variety of main courses. Here’s a straightforward recipe to make Garlic Butter Rice.
Ingredients
1 cup of long-grain white rice, such as jasmine or basmati.
2 cups of chicken or vegetable broth.
Three tablespoons of unsalted butter.
4 cloves of garlic, minced.
One small onion, chop it into tiny pieces if desired.
1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
Rinse the rice:
Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming sticky.
Prepare the Garlic Butter:
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
Add the minced garlic (and onion, if using). Cook until the aroma emerges and the garlic turns pale yellow. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
Cook the rice:
Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan and stir to coat the rice with the garlic butter.
Rice cooks in 2-3 minutes with constant stirring to a light toast.
Add broth and seasoning.
Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth, then add the salt and black pepper.
Stir well and bring the mixture to a boil.
Simmer:
Once boiling, reduce the heat to a low setting. Cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid. Let the rice simmer for 15 to 18 minutes. Stop cooking when the rice has absorbed the liquid and has become tender.
Avoid lifting the lid during this time to ensure proper steaming.
Fluff and Serve:
After cooking the rice, take the saucepan off the heat and allow it to sit, covered, for another 5 minutes.
Fluff the rice with a fork, then stir in the chopped parsley and grated Parmesan cheese, if using.
Serve:
Serve the garlic butter rice hot, as a side dish to complement your main course.
Enjoy your Garlic Butter Rice!
