 club sandwich

A classic club sandwich is a stacked sandwich. It has layers of meats, cheeses, and veggies. It's typically served on toasted bread. Here’s how you can make one:

Ingredients:

  • 3 slices of bread (white or whole wheat)

  • 3-4 slices of cooked turkey or chicken breasts

  • 2 slices of cooked bacon

  • 1-2 slices of ham (optional)

  • 2 slices of cheese (cheddar or Swiss)

  • Lettuce leaves

  • 2-3 slices of tomato

  • Mayonnaise

  • Butter (optional, for toasting)

  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

  • Toothpicks (optional, for serving)

Instructions:

  1. Toast the Bread: Toast the 3 slices of bread until they are golden brown. You can lightly butter them before toasting for extra flavor.

  2. Prepare the Layers:

    • Cook the bacon until crispy, and set aside on paper towels to drain excess fat.

    • Slice the tomato and set aside the lettuce leaves.

  3. Assemble the First Layer:

    • Spread mayonnaise on one slice of toast.

    • Add the lettuce, followed by a slice of turkey or chicken breast, a slice of ham (if using), and one slice of cheese.

    • Place the second piece of toast on top.

  4. Assemble the Second Layer:

    • Spread mayonnaise on top of the second piece of toast.

    • Add a couple of tomato slices, more turkey or chicken, and two slices of crispy bacon.

    • Top with lettuce.

  5. Complete the Sandwich:

    • Spread mayonnaise on the final slice of toast and place it on top of the sandwich stack.

    • Optionally, use toothpicks to secure the sandwich at the corners. Then, slice it into quarters, usually diagonally.

  6. Serve:

    • Plate the sandwich quarters and serve with chips, fries, or a side of your choice.

Enjoy your delicious club sandwich!
