club sandwich
A classic club sandwich is a stacked sandwich. It has layers of meats, cheeses, and veggies. It's typically served on toasted bread. Here’s how you can make one:
Ingredients:
3 slices of bread (white or whole wheat)
3-4 slices of cooked turkey or chicken breasts
2 slices of cooked bacon
1-2 slices of ham (optional)
2 slices of cheese (cheddar or Swiss)
Lettuce leaves
2-3 slices of tomato
Mayonnaise
Butter (optional, for toasting)
Salt and pepper (to taste)
Toothpicks (optional, for serving)
Instructions:
Toast the Bread: Toast the 3 slices of bread until they are golden brown. You can lightly butter them before toasting for extra flavor.
Prepare the Layers:
Cook the bacon until crispy, and set aside on paper towels to drain excess fat.
Slice the tomato and set aside the lettuce leaves.
Assemble the First Layer:
Spread mayonnaise on one slice of toast.
Add the lettuce, followed by a slice of turkey or chicken breast, a slice of ham (if using), and one slice of cheese.
Place the second piece of toast on top.
Assemble the Second Layer:
Spread mayonnaise on top of the second piece of toast.
Add a couple of tomato slices, more turkey or chicken, and two slices of crispy bacon.
Top with lettuce.
Complete the Sandwich:
Spread mayonnaise on the final slice of toast and place it on top of the sandwich stack.
Optionally, use toothpicks to secure the sandwich at the corners. Then, slice it into quarters, usually diagonally.
Serve:
Plate the sandwich quarters and serve with chips, fries, or a side of your choice.
Enjoy your delicious club sandwich!
