cheese-infused burger buns
Here's a recipe for making cheese-infused burger buns:
Ingredients:
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup warm milk (about 110°F/45°C)
1/2 cup of warm water
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 tbsp of sugar
2 tsp instant yeast
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)
1 large egg (for egg wash)
1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
Instructions:
Activate the yeast:
In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Mix the dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough starts to form.
Knead the dough:
Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead it for 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Or, use a stand mixer with a dough hook on medium speed for about 5-6 minutes.
Incorporate the cheese:
Gently fold the shredded cheese into the dough. Knead until the cheese is evenly distributed.
First Rise:
Oil a bowl and place the dough in it. Cover it with a clean towel or plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, until it has doubled in size.
Shape the Buns:
Punch down the dough to release any air bubbles. Divide the dough into 8-10 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Second Rise:
Cover the shaped buns with a towel and let them rise for another 30 to 45 minutes until they are puffy.
Prepare Egg Wash:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water for the egg wash.
Bake the Buns:
Brush the tops of the buns with the egg wash. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the buns are golden brown.
Cool and Serve:
Remove the buns from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack. Enjoy your cheese-infused burger buns with your favorite burger toppings!
These buns are perfect for adding an extra cheesy flavor to your burgers.
