Grilled Cuttlefish with Lemon & Herbs

Here's a simple recipe for grilled cuttlefish with lemon and herbs:

Ingredients:

  • 500 g fresh cuttlefish, cleaned.

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • Squeeze 2 tablespoons of juice from a fresh lemon.

  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

  • Salt and pepper to taste.

  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the marinade:

    • In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, and fresh parsley.

    • Season the marinade with salt and pepper to taste.

  2. Marinate the cuttlefish:

    • Put the cleaned cuttlefish in a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over it, coating it well.

    • Let the cuttlefish marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours, in the refrigerator.

  3. Preheat the grill:

    • Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Make sure the grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.

  4. Grill the cuttlefish:

    • Remove the cuttlefish from the marinade, letting the excess marinade drip off.

    • Place the cuttlefish on the hot grill. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until it's charred and cooked through. The flesh should be tender but firm.

  5. Serve:

    • Transfer the grilled cuttlefish to a serving plate. Garnish with extra chopped parsley and lemon wedges to squeeze on top.

    • Serve hot with a side of crusty bread, a fresh salad, or grilled vegetables.

Tips:

  • Don't overcook the cuttlefish, as it can become rubbery. Keep an eye on it while grilling.

  • You can add other herbs like thyme or rosemary to the marinade for extra flavor.
