How to make falooda

 Falooda Juice

Falooda is a refreshing, tasty dessert drink. It is popular in South Asia, especially in India and Pakistan. It usually has vermicelli, basil seeds, milk, rose syrup, and ice cream. Here’s a simple recipe to make faluda:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of milk (chilled)

  • 2 tbsp rose syrup

  • 2 tbsp basil seeds (sabja/tukmaria)

  • 50g vermicelli

  • 2 scoops of vanilla or kulfi ice cream

  • Crushed pistachios or almonds (optional for garnish).

  • Chopped fruits (optional, like mango or)

Instructions:

  1. Soak Basil Seeds: Soak the basil seeds in water for 30 minutes. Once they swell and become gelatinous, drain them and set them aside.

  2. Cook vermicelli: Boil the vermicelli in water until soft (usually 3-4 minutes). Drain and rinse with cold water to prevent it from sticking together. Set aside.

  3. Prepare Milk: Chill the milk in the refrigerator. You can also sweeten the milk with sugar, but it's optional since rose syrup is sweet.

  4. Assemble the Faluda:

    • Take a tall glass and start layering.

    • First, add 1-2 tbsp of rose syrup.

    • Next, add a layer of cooked vermicelli.

    • Add 1 tbsp of soaked basil seeds.

    • Pour the chilled milk over the layers.

    • Add a scoop of vanilla or kulfi ice cream on top.

  5. Garnish: Top with crushed pistachios, almonds, and/or chopped fruit if you like.

  6. Serve: Serve immediately with a spoon and a straw.

Enjoy your refreshing faluda!
