  • Spoon

  • Measuring Cup

  • Lid

Instructions:

  • Heat oil in a pot over medium heat and add sliced onions, cooking until golden brown.

  • Add minced garlic and ginger paste, stirring for another minute until fragrant.

  • Add cubed mutton to the pot, followed by cumin seeds, garam masala, turmeric powder, bay leaves, and slit green chilies, mixing well.

  • Cook the mutton for about 5-7 minutes until it's lightly browned.

  • Add salt to taste and pour in the water; cover and simmer for 25-30 minutes until the mutton is tender.

  • While the mutton is cooking, wash the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak for 20 minutes.

  • Once the mutton is cooked, remove the bay leaves and add the soaked rice to the pot.

  • Stir gently and add more water if necessary, ensuring the rice is submerged; bring to a boil.

  • Reduce heat to low, cover the pot with a lid, and cook for another 15-20 minutes until the rice is fluffy.

  • Once done, fluff the rice with a fork and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
